The RFU RugbySafe Audit was successfully completed by ALL 38 of Hampshire’s clubs by the end of November 2024. Many thanks to everyone involved in this fantastic effort, it has provided really effective feedback to allow us to focus on ways in which we can improve player welfare even further in our clubs, where Hampshire players young and old tell us they feel they are “in safe hands”.

Wound Care Tips and Tutorial Videos
If you’re working pitch side medical care, chances are you’ve come across wounds that need to be treated. HRFU Head Medic, Suzi Le Voi, has created a series of wound care videos in association with Physique Management, our Official Physiotherapy Product, with some great tips for pitch side wound care including:
  • Wound cleansing with saline solution
  • Trimming Steri Strip skin sutures to fit a wound
  • Applying Steri Strips tutorial
Find the videos here along with other Sports First Aid content
Please remember, we would recommend that you don’t try to treat wounds unless you are medically trained.
Don’t forget HRFU members and clubs get 10% off non-promotional products with Physique, use code hampshirerfu at the basket.
Volunteer Update
Following the sessions Hampshire Rugby ran in 2024, it is great to see more Hampshire Clubs now running monthly volunteer awards, recognizing and rewarding those that help support and grow your clubs.
If you need more help with anything to do with volunteers kindly contact George Winch (Hampshire Volunteer Lead)
Volunteering Recognition
Conker Gin Spirit of Rugby: remember, nominations can be added for each month - click here for the nomination form. If your volunteer does not win in the month then re-enter your nomination for the next month.
As this is a monthly award for the Unsung Hero and Challenging Spirit categories aim to make your nomination about what the volunteer has done that month to help grow your club.
To help with selecting our winners we are looking for anyone involved with rugby to give up 30 mins a month to be part of the 3-person selection panel. Each month you will see the nominations made and select the winners. Kindly contact George Winch (Hampshire Volunteer Lead) if wish to take part.
November 2024 Winners
We had 23 nominations in November and the winners selected by an independent panel were…
Unsung Hero
Emma Styles - Overton RFC

Challenging Spirit
Jo Owens - New Milton RFC
Click here to get more information on how to make your nomination and the registration form.
Hampshire came 2nd overall in the number of nominations made by English clubs in 2024. It would be great for all our clubs to make as many nominations as possible and show England Rugby the value we place on our volunteers.
Volunteering Recognition

For 2025, this award is recognised in several categories and rewards those volunteers that have helped your club throughout the season.

It is great to get your volunteers recognised with Honda and Hampshire Rugby rewarding all nominees.
Club Development Opportunities
We are excited to announce a club development session on 3rd February at Eastleigh Rugby Club. 'Orchard', who have previously delivered national webinars for us on Revenue Generation and Sponsorships development for clubs, will be running this session.
This event addresses one of the highest responded areas of need, as identified in both our region and Sussex. We hope this first event helps to address this need and demonstrates our commitment to action.
There is also an idea for a follow-up event in March/April, focusing on Revenue Generation, Grants, and Club Health Check. We will evaluate the success of this first event and discuss future plans in the New Year.
